Official statement on Sathyam Cinemas taking over Udhayam Theatre
Jul 27, 2013 Popular movie goers destination in Chennai, Sathyam Cinemas, have been steadily spreading their wings across the city and across the state. The organization have extended their presence to different parts of the city by either establishing new setups or refurbishing existing theatres with their brand and style, as in the case of the Old Theygaraja Talkies which is now re-branded as S2 Theyagaraja.
While it wouldn’t be entirely odd for Sathyam Cinemas to continue with such acquisitions and makeovers, an official word from the organization has made it clear that the plans of them taking over the famed Udhayam Complex are mere rumours. The Udhayam Complex, located in Ashok Nagar, was launched in 1981 and carries a reputation of being one of the ever bustling theatres in Chennai with a lot of fanfare during big releases.
Meanwhile Sathyam Cinemas are expected to launch brand new set of screens in Vandalur, Velachery and Vadapalani very soon.
