In a recent interview with a leading daily, ace director Mani Ratnam, who is awaiting the release of his next film, Kadal, talked about how ideas germinate in him and how “irrelevant thoughts” would help him make a full script.

That said, the director also expressed how difficult writing is and why he is passionate about it. According to him, writing is “nagging, fascinating, troublesome and exciting”.

He summed up saying that it is definitely a proud moment when one completes the script after going through so much trouble. 

Meanwhile, Kadal has come out clean form the censors and is expected to hit the screens on February 1st.
