Singam 2 - A blockbuster in the making?
Jul 07, 2013Singam 2 has taken a roaring opening as expected and the numbers are encouraging. The second day collected as much as the first day, according to S.R.Prabhu of Studio Green and he proudly proclaims that Singam 2 is the biggest hit that South India has seen in recent times. The film obviously has taken the best opening among recent Suriya films and the trade is hopeful that after Vishwaroopam, there would be another big blockbuster this year in the form of Singam 2.
But the movie has had its share of release problems as some of the main collecting centers are yet to screen the movie due to distribution and revenue sharing issues. Sangam Cinemas in Chennai is one such complex which is yet to screen Singam 2.
According to a leading trade analyst, Singam 2 has netted a combined 8.15 crores in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala on Day 1, which is very good. Though the movie has received mixed reviews in the online space, the talk among the general masses is very positive and whistles and hoots are reverberating in the theaters where Singam 2 is running,
The ongoing weekend and the ensuing weekdays are expected to stabilize the high opening levels and if things go well, we have a blockbuster on our hands. Even in overseas markets like the US, UK, Malaysia and Singapore, the signs are positive and it's time to congratulate Hari, Suriya and their team for this handsome success.
So, do we have a Singam 3 next?
