Political fantasy, that’s
what we might be tempted to call
Mudhalvan. That’s what Shankar
is known for; larger than life
cinema. A TV reporter being challenged
by the Chief Minister of the state
to take up his office for 24 hours
and that turning out to be a huge
turning point in the political
fortunes of the state; Mudhalvan
romanticized politics in a way
cinema has not done before or
after. But, the movie had the
right intentions. It was made
to entertain, but it also gave
a strong vision on good, corruption
free governance. Sadly, it has
remained only a vision.
