Actress Amala Paul made her presence at the inauguration of 59th Filmfare Awards yesterday and lit the lamp, marking the start of the journey to honour South Indian cinema’s best. Also present at the event were Mr Jitesh Pillaai, Editor – Filmfare and Mr Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer - Idea Cellular. The Idea and Filmfare unveiled the most awaited list of nominees for the 59th Idea Filmfare Awards (South). The nominees were selected through public voting.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jitesh Pillaai, Editor-Filmfare said, “It gives me great pleasure to come down South year-after-year to celebrate excellence in cinema. The South industry has accepted me as a part of their extended family and I’m looking forward to coming to Chennai on July 7th and participating in yet another gala event.”
Mr Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer - Idea Cellular, who has been associated with the Filmfare for the past 5 years, said, “As in the past we hope that the event is grand with scintillating performances. Idea and Filmfare have long been closely associated and this is our way of honouring the people who have given us the magic of movies.”
The prestigious Awards ceremony will happen at the Nehru Stadium, Chennai on 7th July.
