Director Gautham Vasudev Menon has revealed that Dhruva Natchathiram will be first of many films featuring the central character Dhruv, indicating that he is considering to spawn a franchise with his upcoming film. Suriya is already involved with the Singam franchise and Tamil cinema on the whole isn't alien to such models earlier adopted for the Billa series and now recently with Pizza.

He also said that he was persistent to work with Suriya again and only after he had the actor’s confirmation did he discuss the scripts. GVM had offered Suriya three scripts – Thuppariyum Anand, Ennai Nokki Paiyum Thota and Dhruva Natchathiram, before zeroing in on the final one.

Gautham Menon promises an ensemble cast in Dhruva Natchathiram in which Simran, Parthiban and Sudhanshu Pandey’s participation are confirmed and the director says there will be more big names involved. GVM is presently finalizing the tunes for the film with A.R. Rahman. Dhruva Natchathiram will be shot in Chennai, Delhi and Kargil.
