Year 2012 has seen multitudinous releases in Tamil till August. According to reports 107 Tamil films have been released, which hypothetically means that a film has been released every third day. According to historians 24 releases in August 2012, is the highest ever in a single month since the inception of Tamil Cinema in 1931.
Many trade analysts have observed this as mass suicide and a dangerous sign for Tamil cinema. With more releases coming up, this tide isn’t likely to subside.
