The music of Bala’s much awaited Paradesi was released today at the Sathyam cinemas, Chennai. Balu Mahendra released the audio while Suriya and Vikram received it. The cast and crew of Paradesi were there in full attendance on their big day.
As we know, Suriya and Vikram owe their superstardom today, to the Bala films that they did in the early stages of their careers. Both the stars spoke about how Bala can mould and shape even the most ordinary actors into extraordinary ones. Vikram said that it takes a lot of effort and co-operation from the actor’s side to match Bala’s high standards.
Vairamuthu quipped to Bala during the making of Paradesi that he had written a particular song from the movie with his own blood. Bala retorted sarcastically by asking if the ace poet had fallen short of ink. But after Bala listened to the song, he indeed realized what the poet was saying as the song had deep meaning and was an experience to be cherished. The crowd burst into applause when Bala narrated this incident.
GV Prakash, the music composer talked about how Paradesi is a socially conscious film with a period setting. His music will reflect the time and setting of the movie. The trailer that was screened was scintillating and reflected all that we know about Bala’s films – intense, hard-hitting and dramatic. The use of painting imagery in the trailer makes a big impact.
The movie is set in 1939 and the people of Salur village, South Prandhiyam, Tamil Nadu are forced to travel and work at a tea plantation to quench their hunger, thirst and to improve their generally impoverished ways. Their journey and experiences at the tea plantation seem to be the crux of Paradesi. The movie promises to be dark and disturbing in a good way in typical Bala style.
The lead actors Atharvaa, Vedhika and Dhansika may be expected to go to the next level much like how the previous actors who have worked under Bala’s direction, have. Paradesi will hit the screens all over on December 21st and we can be assured of a quality product judging from the trailer and music.
