Jil is a truly international project when it comes to the English verses in the songs. What happens when a superbly dressed fireman, riding a Harley Davidson with all the time on earth to take the girl he loves to picaresque locations and shake a leg, endures a face-face encounter with a bearded man? Director Radha Krishna Kumar's effort on doing a commercially viable film catering to all is a noteworthy initiative!

With nothing much to ponder on the story, Jil is once again the tried and wasted formula. Like a vicious cycle of the title card- villain introduction-heavy music- slow motion- hero introduction- song-heroine introduction- comedy track- love song- action block- villain killing civilians, etc., you see in most of the films, Jil is not new and definitely not ambitious. The exclusive comedy track at the hero's house is a laugh riot, providing a relief from hardcore, blood oozing action scenes. Sakthi Saravanan's cinematography, especially during the high voltage fight in the rain is an appreciable effort!

With all the high-speed camera showing the macho Gopichand walking on a sunny morning and going by the routine of wearing and removing the coolers, the minute he starts delivering a dialogue, all the pumped up image of him drops down to the neighbor who plays cricket with you. Thanks to all the electronic music in the background, even characters looking at each other become watchable. Also not straining with the screenplay, Jil is almost predictable and shallow.

Technically, the film sustains with the market because of the production value, but the segments with things burning and the action sequences are filled with tacky visual effects. Rashi Khanna does the typical Telugu heroine who wants to be funny, dress funny and act funny. Solely handing the love portions, Rashi's expressions are a relief. Her eye-popping physique in the songs grabs your attention.

With numerous logical loopholes, uninteresting situations in the story and pale acting, Jil becomes a tiring watch towards the end. The ability to start a film with a half-baked story, the skill behind fighting against everybody and being emotionally stable to go dance for a song when your father is dead are all the highlights in Jil. Jil might entertain if you are daring enough.
Verdict: Oldest wine in the oldest bottle
