VELLAKARA DURAI SONGS REVIEW

The track has a strange nostalgic flavor which is presented well with contemporary orchestration. A very special mention should be made about Satya Prakash’s soothing vocals and the electric guitar played in Carnatic style.

The album gears back to the folk genre with a funky number supported with good rhythm section and interesting lyrics adding to the fun. Vaikom Vijayalakshmi does a good job with her husky voice and presentation.  The typical chord progression of Imman is clearly evident in the interludes. The track is interestingly based on Carnatic Raaga Keeravani.

An amazing duet with lilting acoustic guitar and novel chord progression. The vocalists Haricharan and Shreya Ghosal pull it off with masterful perfection and class. The timely usage of native single string violin is a master stroke by the composer.

A classy folk number with earthly vocals of Krishnamurthy paves the way for the album’s finale. This composition has the traces of Carnatic Raaga Keeravani once again. However, the rhythm section dominates the melodious aspect of the track.

It is time for some groove with a jazzy number high on brass sections- true to the title! The impressive piano base aids this experimental composition in ease. Timely clarinet adds to the brilliance- thereby creating a yesteryear Jazz extravaganza.
