VELAINU VANDHUTTA VELLAIKAARAN MOVIE REVIEW
Ezhil is known for his rural comedy flicks. His films cater to a particular set of audience and he keeps entertaining them with no logic fun, laughable moments in every film of his. He is back again with another comedy film, though not with his usual rural based one this time.
If you are a fan of Ezhil’s work, VVV will surely not disappoint you. The comedies keep coming one after another while some work and some don't but there is always something happening and you are bound to laugh at regular intervals. Despite weak logics and ordinary plot Ezhil manages to impress the audience that he caters to more often than not. 'Pushpa' comedy and Robo Shankar's child like mannerisms are some of the comedy highlights. But these comedies might not cater to all and some might feel it boring.
On the downside, the film is very predictable with loads of overbeaten scenes. Vishnu Vishal is at the center of a bunch of comedy politicians who are after a 500 crore treasure. He has pulled out a convincing performance. Nikki Galrani plays a police officer, she gets to dance for a couple of songs and also has a few comedy scenes but one feels they could have used her better. Supporting actors Soori, Robo Shankar and Ravi Mariya get a meaty role to play and they have delivered it big time. Remember the famous ‘Kaushik’ character in Desingu Raja? Similarly the director has established a new name ‘Abishek’ here. You could see the crowd laughing whenever Ravi Mariya utters the name ‘Abishek’.
Song placement is a little out of sorts, especially the last song that comes before the climax. One reason why songs are tiring to watch is may be because most of them don’t work and they are passable. ‘Kutheeti’ is easily the pick of the album, which has been picturized well too, thanks to cinematographer Shakti. The choreographer has used the sets and the cheerful leads to the fullest to give a colorful and lively song. The stunts were largely unattractive.
VVV is not a long film, it runs just over 2 hours and 15 minutes, but the film actually look a little long due to the lag in the first half. It takes time to settle. A little more sprucing and tightening in the first half could have helped the proceedings.
