Director Thiagarajan Kumararaja delivered what many fans expected to be the way forward for Tamil cinema and in the process inadvertently reigniting the nascent new wave movement that was subsequently backed up by several more new directors. The film’s premise, treatment and music won itself a legion of fans which was evidently on display when the film was screened at a recent festival and the hall was overflowing with AK-philes.
