Director Kumaravelan teams up with Vijay Antony for the third straight time for Haridas after Ninaithale Inikkum and Yuvan Yuvathi. The film stars Kishore and Sneha in the lead.

Annaiyin Karuvil
Singers: Shankar Mahadevan
Lyrics: Annamalai

A Christmas carol-like Girls choir features throughout the song and is used in the intro and the chorus. Apart from Shankar Mahadevan’s reassuring voice, the lyrics of the song take centre stage with its intentions to inspire. The orchestration features some electric guitar and string arrangements to give it that grand and dramatic effect.

Police
Singers: Prabhu Pandala
Lyrics: Annamalai

A pretty unique and amusing track from the perspective of a police, singing about his occupational hazards. The track’s melody and treatment is akin to a very famous gaana tune from the past. But the song’s content is genuinely fresh and Prabhu Pandala performs it with great heart, enough to win our apathy.

Vazhkaiye
Singers: Shakthisree Gopalan, Usha Uthup
Lyrics: Annamalai

The song feels like a rehash of pop music from the 90s. The tune is pretty simple and straightforward and Usha Uthup performs her duties with utmost ease and to perfection. Shakthishree’s vocals seem to have been processed to make her sound like a child. There’s an odd male groan that crops every now and then which can be a bit unsettling.

Vellakuthira
Singers: Ramaniyammal
Lyrics: Annamalai

A short song that features the wailing voice of Ramaniyammal. The orchestration coupled with her voice creates a serious mood. Because of the short duration of the song, there’s very little room for instrumental pieces apart from a flute solo that features in the background.

Verdict: Apart from Police which is unique for its content, the rest of the songs have little to show for in terms of idea and execution.
