AMMA KANAKKU SONGS REVIEW
Amma Kannakku is an upcoming Tamil drama film starring Amala Paul, Revati and Samuthirakani in lead roles. It is the remake of Hindi film Nil Battey Sannata. Music for the film is composed by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja.
Maths Tough
Singer: Sirisha
The offbeat album begins on an optimistic note with typical Maestro Jazz styled bass work and sultry vocals of Sirisha do the job flawlessly. The lyrics are quite laid back with interesting usage of fancy words. The syncopated rhythm gives a new dimension to the song. The advent of mridangam in the midst of Jazz percussion is quite good as well. There is a Rap portion as well which brings the trendiness to the song.
Unakkum Enakkum
Singers: NSK Ramya, Vandana Srinivasan
The pace slows down quite dramatically with a feel good number rendered by NSK Ramya and Vandana Srinivasan. The chord progression promises to be brilliant with mild changeovers and the touches of grand piano speak mountains of Maestro’s prowess. Sit back and relax with a morning coffee by listening to this lilting melody!
Kanavugal
Singer: Surmukhi
An inquisitive number with Surmukhi’s sweet vocals arrives next in the classic Nata Bhairavi scale- which has been Ilaiyaraaja’s forte always. The song leaves on an abrupt note leaving the listener asking for more.
Kadavil Padaippil
Singer:Haricharan
The most soulful song of the album returns in the mesmerizing vocals of Haricharan. The deep philosophical lyrics get a light-hearted treatment with feel good guitars and live drumming. However, there aren’t many changeovers in the orchestration.
Indha Vazhkai
Singer: Shashaa Tirupati
The finale occurs in royal fashion with a tantalizing number from Shashaa Tirupati next. Perfect bass work, mild treble and maze-like orchestration does the job with no further ado or lag. The song takes the listener to the bygone glorious era and at the same time manages to be trendy.
