One
could call it a ‘battle of
the sexes’ in the first half
and a lilting love story in the
second. The tussles between Prasanna
and Laila that started right from
their childhood are quite enjoyable
to watch. The director has been
extremely careful not to allow it
get over the top. The way fate keeps
bringing them back against each
other and the circumstances under
which their animosity turns into
love have been wonderfully narrated
on screen. The final turmoil in
their minds about telling their
respective families about their
love and the way it ultimately comes
out are sweet and interesting. Enemies
to lovers – this has been
portrayed in cinema many times before,
but Kanda Naal Mudhal has to be
counted among the best. |
