After helming one of the most expensive products to come out of Kollywood in recent times, a project that took more than 2 years in the making, it was understandable that Susi Ganesan needed a bit of a break. But, it is almost a year since Kanthaswamy hit screens and his next project is still a mystery. That he can handle big stars, big budgets and exotic locations with finesse was obvious in the way he made Kanthaswamy. There were panache and stylish shots galore. Perhaps the end product lost the panache-impact balance, but it was a valiant and worthy effort nonetheless. Directors who have an eye for the really big stuff are hard to come by and let’s hope that Susi Ganesan keeps doing it consistently.
