HAPPY BIRTHDAY 'LITTLE MAESTRO' YUVAN ...

When teenagers were trying their best to escape from the clutches of daily school chores, this timid boy was busy composing for his first film Aravindhan. Having been born to a musical sensation, Yuvan Shankar Raja was never deprived of expectations and the task ahead wasn’t easy. Suriya’s Poovellam Kettupar was the first real blockbuster for the youth icon and then with constant intervals, the second son of Ilayaraja started to rule the charts showing versatility both with the songs and the background score.

When film scores were predominantly influenced by the local elements, Yuvan was the very first composer to bring in authentic ‘R n B’ and ‘Hip-hop’ into Tamil film music. The youngster had a very unique knack of fusing the desi factor with international genres. From the instrumentation to the lyrical pattern, he started to create a niche audience patronizing his music and soon Yuvan transformed into a brand called U1. Along with some memorable compositions, Yuvan’s timely collaboration with Selvaraghavan gave a whole new dimension to his category of music and the general public started to even download his BGM tracks.

Yuvan became a one stop solution for packaging all kinds of movies. From big stars to small-time productions, Yuvan came a full circle with regard to the type of music he dealt with. His quirky voice is another charmer and every time he partnered with Na. Muthukumar, the songs were automatic winners.  Directors like Vishnuvardhan, Ameer, Venkat Prabhu, Bala, Ram, Vasanth and Suseenthiran extracted the best from the composer and with over 100 films to his credit; Yuvan will remain one of the best music-directors the industry has witnessed.
