Sasikumar injured, Thara Thappattai shoot stalled

Thara Thappattai being directed by Bala starring Sasikumar and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, is fast nearing completion in Thanjavur and the unit has all plans to move to the Andaman Islands for the final schedule soon.

Meanwhile, there appears to be a temporary halt in the proceedings when a mishap occurred during shooting, that has injured Sasikumar and incapacitated the actor for 15 days.

Director Bala was shooting a violent action sequence for the climax in a place that had snakes and peacocks in abundance. Medicines for snake bite and all precautionary drugs were kept along with doctors and ambulance. A musical track had already been composed for this particular action sequence. Bala being a stickler for realism, did not allow ropes or strings for the artists and he is someone who also does not much favor CG shots.

While shooting this sequence, Sasikumar fell into a pit, his legs piercing a stick that resulted in him landing on his elbow, breaking his arm. His hands slipped off his elbow socket. He was immediately rushed to the hospital and the doctors had advised him to go for the cast and also rest for fifteen days. Sasikumar is currently in his hometown Madurai recuperating.  Director Bala has immediately called for a schedule pack up for fifteen days.
