''Marudhanayagam is a household name already''

Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan's latest video, in his official YouTube channel, is about his incomplete projects - that people tout to be of international standards - Marudhanayagam and Vaamamargam. And, he put an end to the existing confusions that both are two different projects, and not the same!

 

About Marudhanayagam, he recalled an interesting incident when PC Sreeram asked him why wasn't the movie named something else, (like say Gandhi or Nehru), in order for the people to recognize it. For that Kamal Haasan had said that once the movie is done, Marudhanayagam will be a household name all over, which it already is, despite being in cold storage since long!

 

Also, Kamal Haasan said that we shouldn't be taken backwards by the pressure to name movies in Tamil. He insisted that we should be looking ahead at World Cinema, and not within a regional circle. "If I am making a movie about Robert Clive's journey to India, I should title it only as Robert Clive, and not look for a Tamil equivalent."
