Sasikumar does not agree with his dad

Director Bala’s Tharai Thappattai had taken a temporary break after lead hero Sasikumar had injured his hand during the shooting of the climax portions for the film.

As reported earlier Varalaxmi plays the lady lead in this film that is based on the traditional art forms that are unique to Tami Nadu.

Regarding the different characters played by the artists in the film, it has emerged that G M Kumar of Avan Ivan fame plays Sasikumar’s father who is an exponent of Nadaswaram. Sources claim that Kumar wouldn't be happy with the ways of Sasikumar for not following his profession but instead getting into Tharai Thappattai majorly. Meanwhile Varalaxmi is a dancer and is the daughter of Sujatha (who appeared in the Vandanam song in Eesan) who is a former dancer herself.

The film has Chezhian’s cinematography and Ilayaraja’s music.
