Music composers are now the 'FACE' of their films
Nov 16, 2014 Gone are the days when a movie's poster was stuck on the walls across the city just to communicate about its release dates. Now there are posters customized for every little thing about the film. From the first day of shoot and release dates to audio launches and the number of days a film hits, there are posters made for every little happening about the film. Promotions have become another aspect of film making in the current trend.
On those lines, the current trend leans towards making audio release posters in an interesting way unlike the past. The posters are made to promote not just the film but also the music composers. In some cases the music composer's fame sells the movie. Sometimes a music director may also be mistaken for being the hero, like, Aakko's posters that featured Anirudh posing just like a hero. Anirudh's other albums also featured him prominently in the posters, including the recent Kaththi
Through this sort of promotion, the film's weightage is equally distributed and shared by the people who work for the film. Music composers back then usually just got a name tag along with the other crew members, in the poster. Now the movies are also identified by its music directors.
For instance, for the movie 'Pesu', the poster featured Yuvan Shankar Raja and the film was acclaimed for its music. Yuvan has his own fan base to attract audience apart from the actors and director involved in the film. Movies like Biriyani, Vaanam and many more portrayed his pictures along with the posters.
The Telugu movie 'Endhukante Premanta' featured GV Prakash in one of their film posters. The film was praised for the BGM and the songs. From appearing in posters, this music composer has also become the face of his upcoming movie Pencil and a few more. Imman, Ghibran and Santhosh Narayanan are also playing increasingly important roles in the commercial prospects of their films with their name, reputation and musical contributions.

Films with big production banners and high-profile actors also give a definite space for the visibility of its composers. Most of Harris Jayaraj's films such as Anegan, Irandam Ulagam, Yaan, Maattrraan and Thuppakki featured him in exclusive posters.
'Isai Puyal' A.R.Rahman is undeniably a major force in the marketing of all the films for which he provides the music. The recent examples being Kaaviya Thalaivan, I and the Superstar starrer Lingaa. These movies hold the immense face value of the celebrated music director along with its actors.
Promotions done for a film these days are very high making every person's contribution towards the film visible to the public. Music directors' presence has gone one step higher taking their career to a different level. A healthy sign indeed.
