''My aim is to choreograph Ilayathalapathy Vijay''

Fondly remembered for his moves in ‘June Ponal’ in Unnale Unnale, dancer-actor Sathish has travelled quite a distance in a short span of time. Sathish is splitting his schedules choreographing some of the industry’s biggest stars and also pursuing his core passion, acting.

Sathish will be seen alongside Simbu in Gautham Menon’s new under-production flick where he plays a character integral to the storyline. Sathish believes that this role of his will register in people’s minds. He is all praise for the director, Gautham Menon, who had earlier signed him up for Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikalam and feels gifted just to be around in the sets with the ace director.

Sathish has been given a second role in this film, that of choreographing the songs and he says its an absolute delight to work with someone as talented as Simbu. He says “I choreographed a song for him in Vaalu where he left the foreign dancers spellbound with his grace and ease with which he performed. He’s also open to new ideas and suggestions from young choreographers like me which in turn gives me a lot of confidence in my job.”

Ask him about dancing with Ilayathalapathy Vijay in Thalaivaa and Sathish immediately responds saying “As a choreographer my single aim is to do a song for Vijay. I’m hopeful that he recognizes the work I’m doing currently and gives me an opportunity to choreograph him in the future.” About the highly complicated manoeuvres of the ‘Tamil Pasanga’ song in Thalaivaa, Sathish recalls that the dance crew spent 2-3 days practicing the moves but it took Vijay just a matter of minutes to watch and learn from the dance master on the set and deliver a performance with such high energy.

Sathish is also part of a film Endrendrum, which he says is by a group of friends who are all eager to make a mark in the industry. The film will be a simple love story where the director Sinish has focused on the basics of narration and performances. The makers are trying to pitch it as a straight DTH release sometime soon. He has also been roped in as a choreographer for Karthi's upcoming movie titled Kaali.

When he was asked about what his ultimate aim was, he says "My first preference would be acting. But I wouldn't let go of choreography because it gives me an opportunity to network with other actors and learn from them."
