Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2 has opened to high collections as expected. Despite being a normal working day, the first Friday netted more than 19 crores, which is a new record, for a non-holiday opener, by a distance. The second day saw a drop as the film could net only in the range of 16 crores. The huge number of screenings, the cold wave in the North and the mixed reviews that the movie has received have been cited as some of the reasons for the drop on Day 2.

Single screen business has been phenomenal while multiplexes haven’t delivered as expected. Still the first two days business of 35 crores net is grand to say the least. Today should see another huge day at the boxoffice as tickets have already been sold in advance.  

But, Salman’s previous release Ek Tha Tiger still leads the opening figures by a big margin as its first two days netted more than 45 crores.
