Director Atlee, who is debuting with Arya-Nayanthara starrer Raja Rani, has opened up about his project, his guru director Shankar and the Arya-Nayanthara wedding invite that shocked the industry.

He says he is very proud to be addressed as the assistant of director Shankar. “He is like a father to me,” says the youngster.

With Raja Rani, Atlee, a youngster himself, is trying to explore the life of two people, post marriage. He calls his project a romantic musical comedy.

The promotional invite that said ‘Arya Weds Nayanthara’ stunned the entire industry. The director thanked his lead actors for being extremely sportive and co-operative about the idea. He also credits cinematographer George C Williams and composer GV Prakash as the film’s pillars of strength.

The audio launch of the film is expected to happen in August and the release in September.
