Dhanush was in Kolkata, when people from Eros contacted him and said a certain Aanand Rai wanted to make a film with him. Dhanush supposedly wasn’t very keen on doing a Hindi film back then, as he was planning to pursue his dream of directing a film. But Aanand Rai was very adamant about roping in Dhanush. The director personally contacted the actor and bought 20 mins of his time.

Dhanush hesitantly granted him the time and listened to the story. By the time Aanand finished narrating the entire story, Dhanush was already on board. “Nobody could have said no to that story,” said Dhanush, in a recent interview.
 

On the other hand, his direction plans have obviously been put on hold. He has now started shooting for Sarkunam’s Naiyaandi and will soon join KV Anand for a 150 days long schedule. He probably will begin directing his own film after he finishes his present commitments.
