Santhanam’s maiden production venture ‘Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya’(KLTA), that stars him along with Powerstar and newcomer Sethu, looks to be amidst some turbulent times.

Earlier in the New Year prominent writer-director-actor K.Bhagyaraj had filed an official complaint with the TN police department stating that the basic premise of KLTA carries a strong resemblance to his yesteryear classic ‘Indru Poi Naalai Vaa’, where three friends try to woo the same girl. The industry veteran also went on to reveal in his letter that several people involved with KLTA have told him that the film is similar to ‘Indru Poi Naalai Vaa’.

Bhagyaraj also accusses Santhanam and co-producer Ramanaryan of misleading the audience by claiming that they acquired the rights of Indru Poi Naalai Vaa before embarking on their project. Elsewhere, another industry person, Naveen Sundar, claims that the storyline for KLTA had been narrated by him to Santhanam along with title options like ‘Anbulla Simbu’, but now he has not been credited or acknowledged appropriately.

With pressure being applied from different quarters, Santhanam will look to settle these issues to ensure that his Pongal release does not get affected.
