TAMIL MOVIE RELEASE EXPECTATION

His fetish for naming his movies after poetic film songs probably started with Pachaikili Muthucharam. By naming his films after film songs, Gautham Vasudev Menon not only ensured that he is abiding by the rules of following Tamil names for Tamil movies, he also brought in a wave of creativity in discovering Tamil titles for new movies.

NEP is said to have Jiiva and Samantha in three stages of their lives. The movie is a joint venture of Photon Kathaas and RS Infotainment and the Telugu version is called Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu, with Nani and Samantha in lead roles.

Perhaps one of the major coups of the film is that it has Ilayaraja’s music. His association with the legend became the much talked about topic of discussion and prior to the audio launch, advance bookings for music CDs went through the roof proving the commercial market his music commands. The music CD contains 8 tracks and met with instant critical success universally.

According to Jiiva, the movie spans 15 years and hence he is sporting three different looks in the film – something Gautham experimented with much success in Vaaranam Aayiram with Suriya. Jiiva had to lose a lot of weight to look the part and was following a strict diet regimen to look 21 years. The movie also has Santhanam and Anupama Kumar performing supporting roles.

Neethaane En Ponvasantham is simultaneously being released in Tamil and Telugu and is also Gautham’s 12^th movie as a director.
