The pre-release promos of Mr.X made it clear that the film had this element about the invisible man. This was enough to instill some curiosity among viewers to catch up with the 'serial kisser' Emraan Hashmi and the slender hour-glass beauty Amyra Dastur on screen.

The plot is about an anti-terrorism agent, Raghuram Rathod, who is framed by his own department for murder. His life looks to be in for a sad, premature end after a huge explosion which is executed to bump him off. But Raghu survives this ordeal and his life undergoes a sea change thanks to a medical experiment which is carried out on him in an attempt to save his life.

How he plans his payback and how he makes peace with his headstrong fiancee is the rest of the story. To add some spice, his girlfriend also happens to be his colleague at the force and she is as able and skilled as he is.

Mr.X is in 3D and the depth in the visuals and the frames is definitely a noticeable aspect. There are a few gimmick shots just for exploiting the 3D aspect. Overall, the film could have been done without 3D too, but it is a neat value addition to the experience without being too showy.

The team has executed the 'invisible man' scenes very well and the VFX department has to be lauded for not making it tacky one bit. There are a few light conditions which apply for the 'invisible man' to become visible and the team has maintained consistency in this aspect and have not missed it even once.

Except the Bond theme-like title song,  the rest of the songs sound the same. Seems there is a serious tune deficit up North !

In the performance stakes, Amyra Dastur makes a mark as the spunky agent - concerned fiancee and she gets good screen space. Her intimacy with Emraan has worked out well and yes, there are kissing scenes for all you Emraan fans. Emraan has pushed the limits, physically speaking, but there is nothing special for him to enact. The lead villain, Arunoday Singh is weak (not by appearance!) and is a big letdown.

The filmy dialogues go beyond the acceptable realms of artificiality and add to the tedium. The film runs for just over 2 hours but still, only when Mr.X pulls out his Houdini Acts, there is something to savor. The climax action showdown and the little deception ploy are underwhelming and when the film ends with the scope for a sequel, the prospect somehow isn't that exciting.
Verdict: The invisible man entertains in parts !
