Music director Mani Sharma has been extremely prolific in Telugu over the years. He has also been involved with Tamil cinema in brief bursts and Vetri Selvan is his latest offering.

Adidas...
Singer(s): Mano, K.G.Ranjith, Rahul Nambiar
Lyrics: Madhan Karky

A song designed to target the youth with its flirtatious lyrics and up-tempo rhythm. The song has several percussion interludes that offer scope for dancing. Mano, Ranjith and Rahul Nambiar sing in harmony with great gusto. But the downside to this track is that its packaging is fairly old fashioned.

Meghathile...
Singer(s): Shreya Ghoshal
Lyrics: Madhan Karky

Music director Mani Sharma is known to be an ace with melodies and this song is a fine example of that. He utilizes the brilliant Shreya Ghoshal to achieve the best outcome for the song. While Mani Sharma has developed his own sound over the years, the treatment of the song suffers from a sense of déjà vu.

Yennai Yennai...
Singer(s): Haricharan, Mahathi
Lyrics: Madhan Karky

Again Mani Sharma reminds us all as to why he is held in high regard as a composer. The song is filled with beautiful melodies that almost try to outdo the other. The ragas have a strong carnatic influence and it is delivered to near perfection by Haricharan and Mahathi. There is some crafty veena work interspersed in the track that is mixed excellently with clever vocal overdubs.

Vittu Vittu...
Singer(s) : Rahul Nambiar, Bhargavi Pillai
Lyrics: Madhan Karky

The song oscillates between old timey swing to rock & roll. A soft western tune that is backed up by competent vocal performances by Rahul Nambiar and Bhargavi Pillai, the latter especially sings with a refreshing attitude that the song demands. Instrumentally Mani Sharma sticks to core instruments of this genre such as guitars, keys and drums with a nice accordion touch towards the end.

Deivatha Pole...
Singer(s) : Hemachandran
Lyrics: Madhan Karky

A pathos tune that has a gloomy arrangement to back the mood of the song. Hemachandran’s singing is almost tearful and delivers a highly emotional performance. Musically the composer maintains a minimalistic approach that adds a lot of weight to the composition.

Verdict: Overall the album feels like vintage Mani Sharma, but somehow that can be a double edge sword as it does have a dated feel amidst the more trendy styles that the audience subscribes to today.
