Suseenthiran teams up with Yuvan Shankar Raja for the third time after Naan Mahaan Alla and Rajapattai. There are 4 different tracks on this album and one of them will be picturized as a music video featuring Yuvan himself.
MellaSirithal... Singer(s): Yuvan Shankar Raja Lyrics: Yugabarathi
Digital percussions with heavy synth presence dominate this composition. Yuvan sings this song solo, with a healthy back up of vocal effects. One assumes this to be the song that he will feature in. The song’s most memorable moment is the chorus.
AlaipayumNenjile... Singer(s): Udit Narayan Lyrics: Yugabarathi
Udit Narayan signs this song with great gusto but his voice does sound dated even if it still possesses a distinct quality. It’s a melody song which is heavy on string instruments like the guitar. Udit’s singing does give the track an uplifting feel. The hand claps from half way through to the end add a nice touch.
ThappuThanda... Singer(s): Javed Ali, Bhavatharini Lyrics: Vaali
A composition that reminds us of Yuvan’s vigor from his KadhalKonden and ThullovadhiIllamaidays. There is a riveting string section solo in the middle which is layered over a flute solo that sounds relatively low in mixing. Again Yuvan uses the combination of processed beats with great melodies successfully. The singers Javed Ali and Bhavatharini display good range. Javed Ali especially impresses with his vocal abilities.
PoovumPoovum... Singer(s): Vijay Jesudas, Vinaitha Lyrics: J. Francis Kiruba
A beautiful soft song in a nice odd time signature. Yuvan uses female backing chorus in the effect of his father. The song has a very lounge-ish feel with the combination of melodies and soft digital effects and sparse but effective use of the piano. Vijay Jesudas and Vinaitha pull off a song that sounds pretty challenging for a singer.
Verdict: Overall, a short and crisp album with very little to complain except that there is nothing path breaking here. Yuvan displays his skills of versatility jumping from something dark like Aadhi Bhagwan and compose a contrasting album for AKS.
