SAIVAM SONGS REVIEW

The album begins with a classical ambience with the fresh voice of Uthara Unnikrishnan in a flawless manner. The composition is predominantly based on Carnatic classical raaga Kaanada but goes with ease to Kaapi Raaga as well. Uthara is definitely a new talent to look out for and nuture with respect to classical singing. The orchestration is essentially carnatic based but has great touches of western classical piano to give the best feel. This track will definitely stands as the calling card of the film.

From the carnatic scape, it is time to venture into rustic sounds with captivating vocal performances.  The composition is packed with rhythm and vigor as the vocalists do a great job but the track could have been much better with some changeover points as the track progresses.

A breezy instrumental track which seems to carry the soul of the film, arrives next. The string section, bass work and jaltarang create wonders. The emotional violin is gripping and takes the listener to a world of hope.  The far east styled flute joins the feast making for a great instrumental track.

An earthy track with ghatam percussions welcomes the listener with its own individuality. Haricharan delivers the best for a track of this sort and the orchestration is breathtakingly mild yet creating a strong impact. The piano touches in the interludes blend well with the jaltarang.

The brilliant carnatic track arrives in instrumental form now with flute on the lead. The minimal treble, great piano touches and the lively flute make it as good as the original. While the vocal version carries an innocence throughout its progress, this version has a matured fragrance about it.
