TAMIL MOVIE RELEASE EXPECTATION

Karuppampatti brings to limelight yet another debut director, Prabhu Raja Cholan. Having assisted Shankar, one of the most successful directors of the Tamil industry, Prabhu is an FTII alumnus. Said to be inspired by real life incidents, Karuppampatti follows an NRI man who returns to India in search of his identity and his roots. Karuppampatti is the name of the village where the film's lead hails from.

Starring Ajmal, Aparna Bajpai and the Italian model Alice Vergani, the movie is set to follow two generations. Ajmal plays a double role and he plays the son and the father in the story. One part of the film is set in the 1980s and the disco song Naughty Raja Raja was composed for the purpose. Sung by Bappi Lahiri, the song is set to tunes by Kannan.

While most of the film is shot in France, the director hopes to have managed to crossover the language barriers to make his audience understand the connotations of the foreign language. Karuppampatti's shoots happened in Tiruchy, Palani while the final scenes were shot in Paris.

Releasing this weekend, the movie is distributed by Sundar Pictures and is likely to be dubbed into Malayalam and Telugu to cash in on Ajmal's popularity in those languages.
