A theme based on sports, something
as indigenous as Kabadi, itself
sounds interesting. The basic plot
was the familiar ‘rag-tag
underdog’ team scripting a
fantasy victory lead by a shrewd
coach. The narration was like a
whiff of fresh air. The actors seemed
to have been handpicked from the
villages to play characters that
reflected real life. Humor was natural,
warm and carried the rural charm.
The love story was only an undercurrent,
never overtaking the real theme.
