No one expected this from the sugary romantic hero of Kollywood. But when he delivered a rough and tough performance, it was one to remember. With a tonsured head, no nonsense attitude and some very rough and fast frames by Mani Ratnam, Madhavan transformed from the sophisticated educated youth to a thug from the dark lanes of Chennai. Even at the toughest moments in the movie, the character was remorseless for what he had done. It is as if he knew no other way to live.
