You
might be able to recollect
the slideshow on Saturday
(28th March) when we had seen
some of the best(!) thugs
and gangsters of Kollywood.
This is a kind of a follow
up, not a serious one at that.
Here we focus on the lighter
side of gangsters. We take
a look at some of the most
funny thugs, gangsters and
local rowdies in Tamil cinema.
These types of characters
have been presented by many
of our comedians. They have
thoroughly reveled in them,
spoofing the heroism of the
serious dons, speaking ‘over
the top’ dialogues,
rehashing famous punch lines
and of course, getting beaten
up at the end of it all. We
have enjoyed and loved such
characters. A look at the
best of the lot. |

‘Nai
Sekar’ |

This has to be the best
‘dummy’ don
character ever. Vadivelu
was as usual at his best
in Thalainagaram as the
man who tries hard to be
a don but was never taken
seriously by anyone. In
fact, it was Vadivelu’s
comic act that was the highlight
of the movie more than anything
else. Almost all his dialogues
were extremely catchy and
delivered to near perfection.
‘Building strong,,,,,
basement konjam weak’
was one of them. His desperate
antics to establish himself
as a rough guy, especially
to the police and his comically
romantic overtures towards
Jyothirmayee were the high
points of this hugely successful
character.
