Director Shankar has carved a niche in emphasizing a social awareness theme in each one of his movies without still losing the commercial aspect of the movie. It would be a crime if we don’t include his Gentleman, Muthalvan or Anniyan in the list, but due to the variety we wanted to offer, we have selected this master piece. His Indian dealt with bribery – considered to be the topmost social evil in India – and provided solution using the one-man-crusader trick. Although commercially successful, Indian still managed to strike the right chord for the cause.
