Her
performance in Padaiyappa could arguably
be called one of the best roles of her lifetime.
The film not only brought her recognition
in India but also in Japan, Singapore, London
and Paris. Her presence as Neelambhari in
the film was perhaps more powerful than
the Superstar’s role. Even at the
end, she does not change into something
meek, and has the audience in awe of her
raging performance. So much so that the
Neelambhari character makes a cameo appearance
in Rajini’s Baaba, tickling the audience
