Muthukumar falls at Bharathiraja's feet

The audio launch of Vellachi took place last evening at Prasad Labs, Chennai in the presence of some of the most respected industry personnel. The movie stars newcomers Pintu, son of popular comedian-character artiste Pandu, and Suchitra Unni. The film is being directed by debutant Velu Viswananth. Some of the key attendees of the function were legendary director Bharathiraja, K.S. Ravikumar, Venkat Prabhu, music director Karthik Raja and lyricist Na. Muthukumar.

The star of the evening though would most definitely have to be Bhavatharani, daughter of maestro Ilayaraja, who is the music director of the film. Venkat Prabhu, who is also part of her family, was very proud of Bhavatharani’s achievements till date. He reminded the audience that she had earlier scored the music for a highly acclaimed English film ‘Mitr, My Friend’ directed by Revathi.

Veteran director Bharathiraja showered praises on the music director. He remembered how Bhavatharani was born during his filming of ’16 Vayadhinile’ and was happy to see the progress she has made on her own. The director sparked an emotional moment when he appreciated the lyricist Na. Muthukumar, comparing him to the great song-writers in Tamil cinema. He was amazed how the lyricist was able to visualize and relate to the intricacies of village life despite coming from the more developed region of Kancheepuram. On hearing this Na. Muthukumar immediately rose and touched the ace director’s feet for is blessings.

Despite being the event’s latecomers, both Bharathiraja and K.S. Ravikumar made their presence felt with their speeches. K.S. Ravikumar said he had come for the event on his own desire to wish the best for Pandu’s family. He spoke of how the talented Pandu had not made it as big as he himself would have imagined, and was hopeful that his son Pintu would outdo his father in this regard.

The trailer of the film and the visuals of a song were played for the audience. The official CD launching ceremony took place in the presence of Bharathiraja and producer Madan of Vendan Films released the audio and the first copy was received by K.S. Ravikumar.

At the end of the all, it was an emotional day for the cast and crew of the film, who were hopeful that the music will be well received by the audience.
