Kamal's Virumandi is my all time favourite: Madan Karky
Pon Malai Pozhudhu audio launch happened today in the city. Kamal Haasan presided over the event and presented the audio CD to ‘Kaviperarasu’ Vairamuthu. The Dasavatharam actor also released the trailer of the film. Present on the occasion were AR Murugadoss, Pandiraj, GNR Kumaravel and Saravanan.
Speaking on the occasion, Vairamuthu said, “Kaviarasar Kannadasan, MGR, Sivaji and Dr Karunanidhi were the heart throbs of Tamil Cinema. Even today everybody respects and inspires them. That is the reason I’m here. I’m here to show my respect to Kaviarasar Kannadasan.”
Kamal Haasan said, “Vairamuthu admitted he came here today to pay respect to Kaviarasar Kannadasan. That shows the goodness in him. Kalaivanan Kannadasan (son of 'Kaviarasar' Kannadasan) and I were working as assistant directors. He used to have a sharp sense of humour. I hear that his son Adhav Kannadasan who is playing the hero in Pon Malai Pozhudhu, has also inherited this quality. I wish him and the whole team a good luck.”
Madhan Karky said, “Kannadasan, Vaali, Vairamuthu and Kamal Haasan are my inspirations. Kamal sir’s lines in Virumandi are my all time favourites. When the director of Pon Malai Pozhuthu asked me for a club song, I suggested that the whole song be in Tamil. That’s when we wrote the ‘Varkothumai Kal’- a song on beer.
