Creating a fresh sound for Tamil hip hop

The album launch of Hip Hop Tamizhan, the first main stream album by Adhi, a pioneer of the Tamil hip Hop scene in India, was held at Sathyam Cinemas, Chennai today. Purple note launched the album.  Celebrities like actor Aadhav, music director Dharan, singer Ranina Reddy, dance choreographer Sridhar, RJs from various FM stations along with the team of Hip Hop Tamizhan released the album. Hip Hop Tamizhan experiments with various elements of Indian music and fuses it with hip hop, thus creating a fresh sound of Tamil hip hop.

There are 11 tracks in the album and their Club le Mabbu le has already become viral.  The team performed some of their tracks live at the event. The tracks such as Hey do what I say…, Club le Mubbu le…were instant hits with the audience.  

The music of the album is produced by Jeeva Beatz and the album has been conceptualized and composed by Adhi. The lyrics are also by him.

Adhi says that it is the first Tamil hip hop album from India. The album is produced by Remy Martin Hip Hop, which has been associated with rappers Jay Z, T.I, Sean Paul, Usher, Kelly Rowland, Jennifer Lopez. This is for the first time they have associated with an Indian artist.

The team of Hip Hop Tamizhan also has the credit of composing the official election anthem for Tamil Nadu in the last assembly election. They were also invited by Anna Hazare and India against corruption (IAC) to perform for Anna Hazare during his fast for IAC in Chennai. They have represented about Tamil hip hop in various TEDx’s across the country.
