Has Salman Khan's Jai Ho shattered any records?

Salman Khan's Jai Ho released on the 24th of January and has emerged with a good first weekend performance though it is well-short of record breaking. 26th January Sunday helped the collections a big deal, but had the Republic Day holiday fallen on a weekday, the business would have been boosted further.

 

The first weekend net collections from India are 60.69 crores with the day-wise breakup being 17.76, 16.68 and 26.25 crores on the first three days respectively.

 

The film has been met with mixed reviews and the general consensus is that other recent Salman films such as Dabangg and Ek Tha Tiger were much better.

 

Jai Ho is surely expected to breach 100 crores net in India but might not emerge as a profitable venture for the trade's stakeholders due to the heavy investment involved. We will keep you posted on whether Jai Ho breaks even in the coming days and weeks.
