Loved for his onscreen persona and philanthropic nature off screen, actor Suriya was forwarded an interesting question- What made him the Suriya, he is today?

As quick as a wink, he responds saying it was fear that brought him here. “I was scared I’d be thrown out of the industry,” said a candid Surya. He also credits his fighting spirit and sincerity as the pillars of his success.

“Back then, I didn’t know to act; I neither had confidence nor a good memory power. I wasn’t even a decent dancer nor did I have stylish fighting skills. But, I was ready to learn. My sincerity was my biggest strength and I never wanted to give up,” narrated the Singam 2 actor.

Late actor Raghuvaran too gave him a much needed counseling, it seems. The initial stage of Suriya’s career wasn’t very impressive and he says he was then living under the shadows of his famous father Siva Kumar. “He (Raghuvaran) gave me the much needed wake up call. He advised me about creating my own identity and asked me to come out of my father’s shadows,” Suriya adds.   

Today, without a doubt he is one of the best in the business and has in possession one of the largest female fan bases.

The actor is also looking forward to the release of his Singam 2 on July 5^th and has a number of promising projects in hand including Dhruva Natchathiram and one with Lingusamy.
