Dhanush had, in a recent interview to a TV channel,
talked about how Vetrimaran and himself had to
struggle to find a producer for this script. An
indication as to how much the filmmaker has been
through to make it.
The latest in the series is a legal notice from
the correspondent of Thiagaraja College, who has
demanded removal of the dialogue in the film that
speaks about the college in a derogatory sense.
In one of the scenes in the movie Dhanush laments
to his father about how his friends' fathers had
extended them good education by procuring them
admission in Medical and Engineering colleges
by paying huge sums of money while he was educated
in Thiagaraja College, a college in North Madras
that provides education for those from the neighborhood,
and admitted to a mere B.A. degree. The correspondent
feels that this dialogue shows the college in
poor light and that the frequent clips of this
scene aired on TV further adds to the embarrassment.
He has asked them to apologize for having included
the scene in the movie and pay a compensation
of 50 lakhs towards defamation within 7 days failing
which they would have to face dire consequences.
The producers are consulting their legal experts
on this matter. A similar case came up when the
film Kadhal hit the theaters but later died down.
As to where this case leads to we will have to
wait and watch.
