The theatre owners in Tamil Nadu have announced that the cinema halls in the state will remain closed on February 23rd. According to Annamalai, the President of the Theatre Owners’ Association, the strike is to condemn the Central Government for imposing service tax on them.
Annamalai said that the service tax would be a huge burden on the theatre owners considering the number of taxes paid by them already. He added that the entertainment tax levied by the state government is also causing them huge distress.
