Months after its release, Kolaveri di, the song from the movie 3 featuring Dhanush and Shruti continues to make waves. A PIL (Public Interest Litigation) has been filed by the Kerala High Court by one Mr. Madaswamy claiming that the violent lyrics are "badly influencing minds of young children." He has asked for the song not to be screened in public.
Mr. Madaswamy is a postal assistant from Idukki and is in the Guiness book of records for being in a speech marathon that lasted 30 hours and 6 minutes. He has cited studies published by the APA (American Psychological Association) that have found a correlation between song lyrics and violent/aggressive behavior to support his case against Kolaveri Di.
Many schools in the South are concerned that students are singing this song with its explicit lyrics he said. He feels also that the Central Board of Film Certification should have taken a sterner stand as regards this song.
