"PC SREERAM IS SOMEBODY I’VE WORSHIPED ALL MY LIFE" - G MURALI

Interview Team : Avudaiappan; Jeevakaran; Abishek Raaja

Few days after the grand event of The Behindwoods Gold Medals, G Murali, recipient of the medal under the category "Find Of The Year" for his outstanding work with the camera in the film Madras, shares his feeling about the award and more with Abishek Raaja.

How do you feel after having signed on the dotted line for the Rajinikanth film?

We are still not completely over the excitement. As a team, we know the responsibility that’s expected from us. We are trying to keep aside the thrill and work on getting the best possible output. Location scouting is happening now.

Did you expect the Behindwoods Gold Medal for the ‘Find of the year’?

It came as a complete surprise to me. With so many contributions by lots of talented people, this was pretty exhilarating to even believe. With an online company deciding on me to win the coveted medal, I’m humbled.

How was it to receive the medal from PC Sreeram?

I was earlier informed that, Santosh Sivan would award me. He’s my senior and I’ve had interactions with the stalwart earlier. But when I knew I would be awarded by PC sir, I got nervous. He is somebody I’ve worshiped all my life. If the name of a cinematographer evoked thunderous response in the cinema halls, it was because of this one single man. He is a living legend. I’ve always waited for a moment to at least interact with him, but Behindwoods gave me the precious opportunity of receiving the medal from PC, the great. Thanks to Behindwoods for coming up with such a special, differently done award function.
