Recently Nayakan celebrated its 25th year. Kamal was contacted to give an interview about the movie. He opened his heart about various pressures that he faced from the producer Muktha Srinivasa Rao.

Mr. Rao claims that Kamal Hassan damaged him in the article. But people who read that article would understand that Kamal Hassan only revealed some truths about the producers of Tamil Film Industry. Mr. Rao was one among them.

Mr. Rao, in reply to Kamal Hassan's article has said that,

…..All the scenes that were shot were scrapped since Kamal Haasan did not like them. The screenplay had to be rewritten. Shooting was postponed. The new screenplay had lot of violence and I was shocked as it was a copy of The Godfather and Once Upon a Time in America. I told Mani that a good writer and director should get inspiration from life, and not copy from other films"

Since there is a considerable number of bad-mouths talking ill about Kamal Hassan, this portion of his (Rao) article is being advertised much by the media. But this isn't a reply to Kamal Hassan's article at all.

Kamal Hassan has accused Mr. Rao in his interview for being the 'indirect' reason for forcible copying in Nayakan. He said,

He (Rao) was also indirectly responsible for the scene where the man is garroted in the car, which is just like The Godfather. I was helping out with the action scenes, and I had written this scenario that I later used in my Thevar Magan, where a truck, with a cargo of steel rods jutting out, reverses and rams into this car and kills him. But Mr. Srinivasan wouldn’t allow a car to be demolished; so we were forced to use the scene from The Godfather

Mr. Rao didn't reply anywhere in the article to this accusation. He didn't allow even to demolish a car, to shoot an original scene which was suggested by Kamal Hassan. The same scene was used later in 'Thevar Magan' which was Kamal Hassan's own script. Rao is distorting the fact that, he imposed immense pressure on the director and the actor by saying that Kamal Hassan copied in Nayakan.

Everybody wants a lead to scold Kamal Hassan. Muktha Sir gave that lead so that his mistakes will be washed away in that controversy. Kamal Hassan hasn't replied yet to his unethical tactics. There lies his modesty as an actor!
