This was perhaps one of the biggest
events of 2006. The film industry
joining hands to thank one person
who had made life easier for them.
The function that was organized to
felicitate the chief minister for
his move to exempt films named in
Tamil from entertainment tax. The
CM’s announcement had earlier
triggered a flurry of title changes
in the industry.
The
function was a huge success, barring a few incidents
here and there which could have been avoided.
It was also one of those events where one got
to see Kamal Hassan and Superstar on the same
stage. Some communication gap between the organizers
had resulted in disproportionate number of people
turning up at the venue. However, in the end everything
was managed well and the nearly 7 hour long function
went off smoothly with performances from most
of the young leading artistes.
