VIDIYUM MUNN MOVIE RELEASE EXPECTATION

After a laudable performance in Naan Kadavul and Drohi, Pooja Umashankar has shown up again in a character that seems to be as powerful as her previous appearance. The music and trailer of Vidiyum Munn have shown promise and the very presence of Pooja and the little Malavika Manikuttan does make one get the feeling that it would be a message driven thriller that happens overnight, just like what the title suggests.

We’ve got a few words from the director and the producer of the film on why you shouldn’t miss the film.

“We’ve made this movie like world cinema. I would like to call it a Tamil language film rather than a Tamil film, which means I would want people from anywhere in this world to understand the subject matter. We have not used sentiments for this film; we’ve made use of emotions instead, because emotions are universal. Sentiments are not universal.”

“Secondly, you would be able to see how we’ve managed to make a thriller on the lines of a simple subject, by prolonging it with a lot of suspense in an atmosphere created by us.”

“The photography and music have come out very well and does not need any explanation. Our producer has not compromised on anything technically. He has given us whatever we wanted. If you want to watch a different film, you definitely have to watch Vidiyum Munn.”

“You need not be an educated person to watch this film. Even a normal person can watch this film”, he said when he was asked about how he thought he would be able to deliver such an intense subject on the commercial perspective. “You will be able to guess the emotions playing even if you switch off the dialogues and watch the film. It’s a visual language and we have used this visual language to narrate this script.”

Ask him about the recent trend that focuses on comedy and his take on it, he says that comedy is not his cup of tea.

“Some people like Pizza. Some people like ice cream. You cannot live only with ice cream. You’ve got to have other food as well.  There are a lot of directors who do very good comedy. You’ve got to understand the pulse of the audience well to do a comedy film. I don’t think I have that pulse. I have hence taken up the thriller genre that I am very fond of.”

“My reasons to watch this film are Malavika and Vinodh Kishan. Pooja obviously is too awesome so I don’t really have to repeat about Pooja. But Vinodh Kishan has really made an impact in the film. You should watch it for him.”

“This is a film with a very different message altogether. When I listened to the story, I fell for it straight away. I got carried away and that’s why I thought I have to make this film. The screenplay is awesome”
