Good Bad & Ugly Theme
Singer : Aishvarya Khumar
An ominous track with haunting vocals of Aishvarya Khumar sets the stage for this psychological thriller album with interesting twists. The best of western harmonic minor scale is explored in this track equipped with trumpets, gripping rhythm and effective string section. The track suddenly gathers pace with good vigor and thump giving a good contrasting feel.
Kannungala Chellangala
Singer : Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyrics : Selvaraghavan
Yuvan plays with his strengths by bringing modern Jazz as a tribute for the legendary poet Kannadasan. He himself rendered the song with his quirky vocals and it suits the song’s moodiness perfectly. Interestingly, he also adds the layers of Hip-Hop section which gives it a trendy twist. The interludes are quite impressive with usage of interesting flute and recurring rhythm and Rap section. Watch out for the earthly rhythm which gives the song an international flavor.
Maalai Varum Vennila
Singer : Dhanush, Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyrics : Selvaraghavan
A typical Yuvan style solo with right piano touches, living drums and Spanish styled rhythm section gives the album a melodious layer as well. Selvaraghavan’s lyrics are peppy with different shades and the overall arrangements of the song do complete justice to the ominous flavor of it. While Dhanush sounds quite peppy and quirky, Yuvan’s portions are contrastingly brilliant with eeriness and scariness. The riveting guitar which arrives in the interludes is quite feisty.
En Pondaati Ooruku Poita
Singer : Yuvan Shankar Raja, S J Suryah
Lyrics : Selvaraghavan
The finale hits hard with a paced up number which has a deep philosophical meaning in terms of the tune and the lyrics as well. The song has various shades such as anger, sadness interspersed with urbane trendiness. The bass work in particular is quite impressive and the vocalists do a commendable job with their good throw. The use of keyboard in the midst of heavy sounding percussion is another good experiment.
